The school will train PhD students and young researchers in the construction, application, and interpretation of the pangenome, addressing livestock species with insights also on plants and humans. The school will provide theoretical knowledge and data analysis skills using bioinformatics tools.
Objective
Discover what a pangenome is, learn the basics of quality checking, constructing and using a pangenome, and explore the potential future applications of pangenomes that may open new research opportunities. The School will have theoretical classes and practical sessions to enable students to learn and apply the techniques that are taught, and will include examples and demonstration.
Program
The course will be in English for a total of 44 hours: 28 hours lectures and 16 hours practicals.
Objectives are:
• To understand the theoretical principles and applications of pangenomics
• To interpret and analyze pangenomics data with proper bioinformatic tools
• To develop a critical awareness of the implications of pangenomics • To communicate the results of pangenome analyses in a clear and concise manner
